Could be interesting, would have to see more :P

Where is everyone getting the "it's PvP only" stuff? The main web page says you can "choose your path" with PvP OR PvE.

I really don't know much about computers and figured out enough to get a pretty good computer for pretty cheap.... it is not that hard - read reviews, look around, find good prices. It is not that hard to put together either.

My bad. I should have posted 8800, not 8xxx. 8600 will cope at medium settings.

AoC endgame is PvP. This has been pushed by the devs since the start. There will be PvE, and all the stuff you expect with a P2P game (raids, epic loot etc). The whole idea of the game is to battle for control of forts/keeps. You can even build your own, this is only available to the top guilds though.

Only hitch so far seems to be loading screens.

Opps wrong quote :x never mind

Glad to know that theres people out there that know you don't need an overpriced alienware PC to run high end games.

The webpage says that... however when pvpers are mixed in with pve, everyone has to pvp at times. So if you aren't into hardcore pvp at any moment, this game probably won't be to your liking.

Rare monsters and quests do not resurrect or come again, whether it’s an ancient beast, a crumbling temple, an island rising out of the sea or a great ritual that fails or succeeds.
So all the rare monsters and rare quests will be gone from the game in the first month or two. Nice. Now there's no reason to hunt down any dragons because someone already got them all. It's equally nice that instead of beating the "final boss" all I can do is read about how some other guild did it and that everyone else is lame.

Or ever consider that perhaps they have a randomization engine to constantly create new content in an automated manner? *GASP* You're thinking about this game as if it were being made in the same generation of gaming that GW was...

Random quests have been around for awhile. AO and CoH had them.

There is PvE servers. On the PvE servers you shouldn't have to PvP.

This I'm going to have to look into.

I don't think it'll work this way though. Apprently it takes 400 hours to reach max level, so nobody is hitting high-end content for at least a month.

I'd think once someone kills a boss, he won't respawn until you've logged out. Basically no boss camping for epic loot.

I'll ask on the forums though.

Closed beta is nearly over now. Should hopefully be in open beta in the next few weeks.

seeing as I am a graphics-nerd, I almost beckon for this game just watching the trailer. However, music = boring, landscapes are all doom-and-gloom dull, and I am wayy too in love with GW to go behind her back with that stuff.

It looks like it suffers from the Oblivion syndrome. The graphics are amazing but the overall artwork suffers. Hard to say from the trailer, but in Oblivion you'd get tired of the same brick looking towns and every cave looking the same. The expansion "Shivering Isles" brought back the variety in the landscaping and cities, felt more like Morrowind.

I did think that creature he was riding in the video was hardcore. As for the music, vocalist music allways ALLWAYS feels awkward to me.

Looks like a AoC clone with Crysis graphics. And we all know how big a success Crysis was

I've been trying to get into the closed beta ever since I heard of it, but no luck. It should be graphically impressive and I like the more or less open ended aspect of the gameplay. It looks like a game that truly rewards you for spending lots of time on it but could still be fun for those that have 1-2 hrs a day. It will have quite a large PVP aspect, but I don't think it will be like WoW where you are trotting along at lvl 15 and a gang of lvl 60's come and r*pe you just because they can.

*waiting for open beta to see if it's worth a monthly fee though*

Assuming it's any good. Games based on existing franchises tend to be poor at best... save for the Xwing and Tie Fighter games. Those were Omega Jet Awesome. Look at the Conan game for the PS3, they hired a blah voice actor for the role and it's already 30 bucks.

It's just another MMO that has loose ties with Conan really. The main PvE storyline will most likely be the normal crap

PvP will be battling for control of forts/cities etc hopefully it will not be like the GW Faction system....baed
